Dames Do Care

Current Mission

We are the community response side of Dames Don’t Care Motorcycle Collective, because, well, sometimes we do care–just a little.

As you are aware, the severe shortage of personal protective equipment was met with an overwhelming response of volunteers. Throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, groups mobilized to create much-needed medical gear for both those on the front lines and the most vulnerable of our communities.

Dames Do Care tapped into the vein of our local motorcycle community and came out with over 150 volunteer riders to support that response. We are the transport mechanism—allowing the makers to stay focused on the making while we get their finished product to its destination all over the San Francisco Bay Area: Sonoma to Sacramento and San Francisco to Santa Cruz and beyond.

The overwhelming response manifested as a volunteer brigade roaming the streets with a righteous purpose.

Why I volunteer

Organizing during insane times keeps me sane, feeling awestruck with the willingness and passion of those I’m volunteering with keeps me humble. Sane, passionate and humble humans can band together and accomplish so much!

Why I volunteer

" I volunteer because I don’t want to go to hell.

Just kidding: I volunteer because it is the best way to unify a divided world while also nourishing your own soul."

— Emily Wakeman, Dames Don’t Care co-director
